THREADING

Eyebrow threading, done by hand and done right.

Threading is the oldest way to shape a brow and still the most precise. Nona has been threading brows in the Twin Cities for years, and it is the service clients say they drove past for years before they knew she offered it.

Eyebrow threading at Nika Salon

Threading uses a single twisted cotton thread to lift hairs straight from the follicle in clean rows. There is no wax touching your skin, no chemical strip, and no guessing. Nona shapes each brow to the line of your face rather than to a template, so the result looks like your brows on their best day, not somebody else’s.

Because nothing but thread touches the skin, threading is a good fit if you have sensitive skin, use retinol or acne treatments, or have had waxing lift skin before. It also gets the fine hairs wax misses, which is why threaded brows tend to stay crisp longer.

Nona also threads the upper lip, chin, sideburns, and full face. A full-face session takes a little longer and leaves everything even.

What to expect

  • A quick chat about the shape you want. Bring a photo if you have one, or tell Nona to keep it natural.

  • Brow shaping takes about 15 minutes. Full face is longer.

  • Mild redness for an hour or so is normal, especially the first time.

  • Skip makeup on the area for the rest of the day and avoid heavy sun.

  • Most clients rebook every three to five weeks.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Does threading hurt?

It is a quick series of small pinches, less than a wax for most people. Nona works fast and keeps the skin taut, which is most of the trick.

Is threading better than waxing?

For brows, usually yes. It is more precise, gentler on skin, and catches finer hair. Waxing is still available if you prefer it.

How often should I come in?

Every three to five weeks keeps the shape.

Do you take walk-ins?

Nika Salon is booking only, so grab a time on Vagaro first. Threading slots are short and usually easy to fit in the same week.
